June 4, 2008 -- The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has formally approved the registration of use directions for HYSO’s Automatic Door Handle Disinfecting System in conjunction with its alcohol-based quaternary ammonium formula. The formula kills 99.9% of bacteria on the door handle, including Staphylococcus aureus, a common bacterial inhabitant of human skin, Salmonella enterica, a bacterium associated with food borne illnesses, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacterial organism found in water, soil, and food. According to the EPA, this product is “designed for use in hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, schools, and homes, where disinfection and deodorization is of prime importance.”
